What is Numerology and How is it Used?

Numerology is a metaphysical art that involves the study of numbers and their significance. It is based on the belief that numbers have inherent vibrations and energies that can provide insights into various aspects of our lives. This is a possibility because Numerologists believe that every digit has a unique and specific frequency, which Numerology associates with a symbolic meaning.

People have been using Numerology for thousands of years to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their life’s purpose. Although different than other divination practices, Numerology is an esoteric practice, like Astrology or Tarot. What sets Numerology apart, however, is that it is all about numbers! Even letters, such as those in someone’s name, can be converted into numbers.

To put it into greater perspective, I want to throw some “coincidences” out to my readers regarding various patterns and synchronicities in numbers. Let’s think about the number seven and all of the countless things where it is involved. Seven is highly significant throughout cultures, religions, mythology, and symbolism.

There are seven colors in the rainbow, seven days a week, seven notes in a musical scale, seven world wonders, seven main chakras in the body, seven continents on Earth, as well as seven seas. There are apparently seven deadly sins. Snow White had seven dwarves, while Voldemort made seven Horcruxes. There were Seven Sages, Seven sisters, Seven Ages of Men, and the list goes on and on.

People use Numerology in various ways, primarily for self-discovery and personal growth. By analyzing the digits of their birth date, individuals can uncover their life path number, which represents their life’s purpose and direction. This information can help them make informed decisions as they navigate through life’s challenges easier with help based on their numbers.

Numerologists may, likewise, assign numerical values to letters using a system of conversion. Then, they analyze these numbers to uncover hidden meanings and patterns. The calculations involve reducing numbers to a single digit by adding the digits together, which is called simplification.

For example, the number 27 would be reduced to 2+7=9, while 321 would be simplified to 3+2+1=6. If the result ends with a single number, then that is the answer and there’s nothing else to be done.

Each number has its own unique characteristics and symbolism, which numerologists interpret to provide insights and guidance. While number 1 indicates leadership and determination, the number 4 is highly organized and detail-oriented. The number 6 is family-focused and driven by the need for comfort, while the number 9 points to humanitarianism and shadow work.

An individual’s personal Numerology chart works very much like a personalized Astrology chart. Our Astrology charts include signs for each planet in our solar system, which is inside of an astrological house, with each of these planets and signs having their own symbolic meaning. It is the combination of signs, planets, houses, aspects, and other information that tells Astrologers about the person. This information is gathered using the person’s date of birth, time of birth, and location of birth.

In Numerology, there are no existing planets or zodiac signs to give insight to Numerologists. Instead, the entire chart is comprised of numbers only. An Astrology chart’s most important features are the Sun sign, Moon sign, and Rising sign. Similarly, a Numerology chart’s more significant features are the Lifepath Number, Expression Number, and Birthday Number. This information is gained with an individual’s birthdate and full name at the time of birth.

Numerology can also be used to gain insights into relationships, career choices, and the studying the likelihood of future events based on a certain pattern of numbers and combinations. This data may be discovered in various parts of one’s personal chart, like the Personality Number, Soul Urge Number, or Heart’s Desire Number along with others mentioned above.

Below, I have created an incredibly basic numerology chart, which shows some of the other features that may be found within a personalized Numerology chart. Keep in mind that this chart is lacking in a great amount of detail that can be identified in a full reading. This includes things like certain ages and years in which Challenges are experienced, for example.

The arrows reveal strengths where there are three circled numbers in a row, (1,5,9 in this example), from their birthday digits, 10/16/1985. In this chart, Jane has the Arrow of Determination. Conversely, it points to weaknesses when there are three empty numbers in a row.

In a later discussion, I plan to explain in more depth different parts of the Numerology chart. If you haven’t already, sign up for email notifications to know when new posts have been released!
